Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning Fellowship

Overview:

An IDDL Fellowship is recognition of a faculty's interest and involvement in helping Virginia Tech achieve its distance learning vision of being a world class leader in eLearning, transcending the barriers of time and space to offer new knowledge for a global community. IDDL Fellowships are awarded periodically to teaching faculty who are currently engaged in or have been engaged in eLearning at Virginia Tech. IDDL Fellowships carry a limited funding commitment from IDDL to support their work with eLearning. These funds are transferred to the recipient's college for use by the IDDL Fellow.

IDDL Fellows provide a conduit between faculty, their college, their department, and the Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning. In this way they represent IDDL and the University's commitment to eLearning by sharing information and ideas regarding eLearning activities and initiatives. IDDL Fellows are provided access to eLearning resources to assist in their work.

Application Process and Timeline:

The Associate Vice President for Distance Learning and Summer Sessions will announce the opening of applications for IDDL Fellowships in mid-Spring semester. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee chaired by the IDDL Director. Announcement of the recipient(s) for the upcoming academic year are made prior to Spring Commencement.
